Inspiring a Lifelong Passion for Music

Each year we partner with Music on the Strait to bring world-class musicians to Olympic Strings Workshop, providing high-level masterclasses and opportunities for our students to engage with professional musicians.
Music on the Strait celebrates chamber music in the singularly beautiful environment of the Olympic Peninsula and Salish Sea. Founded in Port Angeles in 2018 by locally-raised musicians James Garlick and Richard O’Neill in partnership with the Port Angeles Symphony, Music on the Strait aims to share chamber music, both its traditions and its emerging voices, through community programming and educational outreach.

The Port Angeles Symphony partners with Olympic Strings by providing stands and advertisement. In 2018 they sponsored the initial Chamber music summer camp run by Monique Mead.

The Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1932 and began with a few fiddlers and horn players performing light opera and Sousa marches in each other's homes. Today it consists of over 80 volunteer musicians. The symphony is known for its ambitious yearly schedule of five Main-stage programs, three Chamber programs, and a family Pops program. Additionally, PASO reaches out to the community with educational programs.

We've partnered with Field Arts & Event Hall to provide our students with a unique performance opportunity in the premier performance venue on the Olympic Peninsula.

Field Arts & Events Hall represents the newest and most significant arts, entertainment and special events facility found anywhere in the region. Field Hall hosts local, regional, national and international music and performance artists inside the 500-seat Donna M. Morris Theater. Field Hall also includes a cutting–edge waterfront conference and event center suitable for groups from 20 to 300 people, overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
